Established in 1996 by managing director Jimmy Ng and business partner, Alfred Tsang, I Love Sushi is a wholly Australian owned sushi-distribution company.

Based in Sydney, Australia, the company supplies a range of sushi products to an expanding Australian market.

The group's headquarters are located in a brand-new state-of-the-art premises at Strathfield South in Sydney's inner-west.

I LOVE SUSHI
When the company was created in 1996 a strategic decision was made for it to operate only as a distributor of sushi products rather than towards developing a chain of restaurants - a decision dueled by the demographic nature of Australia's 18 million-population.

Management reasoned sales, and hence profit would be better maximised through distribution to the broader market.

The company also had an extensive contract to supply the Olympic Stadium with sushi during the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, turning out 6000 sushi rolls and 1000 sushi lunch-boxes daily.

The relocation of the business from its Chinatown premises to a brand-new million-dollar factory in South-Strathfield in March 2002 highlights the vision of its early business decision.

I Love Sushi is a leading supplier to the plenty of outlets. i.e. major supermarkets, food stores, entertainment venues, universities, department stores and so forth.

I LOVE SALMON
I Love Sushi is also the owner of I Love Salmon - a highly successful sub-division of the group with a presence in a number of international markets.

Salmon XO Sauce (I Love Salmon's flagship product) has been received with gusto by consumers, and in less than a year is rivaling the success of the company's sushi operations.

The success of the company's Salmon XO Sauce was largely responsible for the group as a whole relocating from its Chinatown premises to a brand-new million-dollar factory in South Strathfield in March 2002.

The development of the Salmon XO Sauce was pioneered by Ng, who, using unused salmon from sushi production - (as only the finest off-cuts can be used for sushi, the rest is surplus) created a unique salmon-sauce dish.

Despite the relative 'adolescence' of Salmon XO Sauce a number of foreign markets have already been penetrated with resounding success – the product is already on the market in Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia.

Efforts are currently under way to tap into other international markets such as the United Kingdom, Japan, China, Canada, Taiwan and the United States of America.

The company has full confidence in both the uniqueness and quality of its flagship product Salmon XO Sauce and intends.

AWARD
Winners of the 2001 Western Sydney Industry Award Winning the prestigious 'import replacement' category - an award usually given to larger manufacturers.

Minister for Western Sydney and Information Technology, Kin Yeadon, commenting on the award, said:

"The judging panel was blown away by this young company…what's fantastic is the way it has replaced imports with a unique Australian product."
